Melissa Rodriguez has been practicing architecture since 2012, when she received her bachelor’s degree from Penn State University with a thesis focus on using the design of gathering spaces to teach history and culture. Her inquisitive mind and a growth mindset drove her to board a plane with two suitcases and leave her hometown in Puerto Rico at an early stage in her life.

Melissa believes that designs should transcend a piece of paper and become built, breathable, touchable environments that people inhabit. Her focus professionally has been in education projects, where she brings relevance to her work through her diverse background, unique design talent and rigor for constructability. She is a versatile architect, experienced in all phases of work, including programming, design, and construction documentation. In her role, Melissa enjoys shaping space into place, always seeking to foster a sense of community for its users. She enjoys working with students, teachers, and clients to understand everyone’s needs and uncover creative solutions for all.

Melissa is past chair of AIA Baltimore’s Future Architect Resource initiative, a student outreach and educational program focused on design and architecture advocacy for youth, and its impact on society.
